running a Gigabyte GAM-59SLI-S5 MOBO and an AMD 64X2 3800+ 2.0 gHZ CPU.
It has Vista Home Premium loaded. Not to doubt anyone's knowledge about RAM voltage, but how critical is .4V?
RAM I am using now requires 2.2V, current BIOS voltage is at 1.8, (which is easily adjustable). RAM is Patriot 2gB PC2 6400 (2 x 1 gB).
I do intend to adjust the voltage setting, problem I am having now is that the system will freeze up at any given time, for no apparent reason.
Will insufficient RAM voltage cause this?
BTW, this is my 1st custom built desktop, hence the (stupid) questions.....
Thanks in advance!

(4 posts)There is no such thing as a stupid question when it comes to computers ... if there is then I have asked a ton. I do not have a lot of experiance in the RAM voltage field but I do know that if not supplied with the recomeded voltage that it will not function at its best ... is there a reason you do not want to change the voltage setting on the RAM?
No, I do not have a problem with adjusting the RAM voltage.
If you read my post, I merely asked if a difference of .4 V would cause the problem that I am experiencing.
Perhaps stupidity can be perceived on my part (or yours) as sheer ignorance, this is why I posted this question to begin with.
I graciously offer you thanks, sir, for your response.
