I would very much like to have a tutorial on exactly how to creat a USB stick that, when inserted into a Windows computer, will automatically play (assuming CD/DVD software is allowed to automatically play)! This would be similar to a U3 flash drive but home-grown!

Thanks in advance.

Hi, welcome. I don't think creating a U3 partition on a non-U3 compatible flash drive is possible. You can get a U3 drive for pretty cheap, as (most) people don't need them anyway !

The following article is a pretty good explanation of the how and why/why nots of doing what you want to do. Using AutoRun with a USB Flash Drive (USB stick)

Also if you Google autoplay flash drive you will find a miriad of web pages on the subject.
