Here is how to get the log from API Monitor:
Run API Monitor.
Open the Capture menu and select Process Filter.
Click "Include Filter (Monitor Processes Specified Below)".
In thed Process Box type CACard32 (API Monitor doesn't include .exe as part of the name).
Click Add and click Ok.
Open the Capture menu and select API Filter.
Check select all under Win32 API and NT Native API.
Uncheck Memory Management under Win32 API and Uncheck Memory under NT Native API.
Click OK.
Open the Capture menu and select Capture API Events.
Start Creatacard.
Note: With the APIs being monitored Creatacard may be slower to open.
When you click ok on the Creatacard error open the Capture menu can click Capture API Events to stop the capture.
Open the File menu and click Save.
Save the apm file somewhere and send it via email.

I looked at the API Monitor capture file and couldn't figure out the problem with it.
I'm now out of ideas for getting Creatacard to work on Windows Vista 64-bit.
One thing you might be able to do however is use Virtualzation software like VirtualBox (The 64-bit version is labled AMD64) to run Windows XP in a Virtual Machine running on Windows Vista 64-bit.
This is not the prefered way to run older programs as it takes more processer power and memory and doesn't integrate as well into the host OS (Windows Vista 64-bit in this case) but it's the only idea I have at the moment.

Thanks for your time and efforts jd2066. You went above and beyond. Not sure how I will proceed. I'm no computer whiz. Wish there was someplace I could just send/take the original installation disk to and have them repackage it into a working MSI for Vista 64-bit.

Reading your post listing "repackage it" gave me an idea.
I only listed AppDeploy Repackager as it was a small free repackager.
There are other repackaging programs out there you can try.
Like InstallShield Premier includes a repackager though the program costs money.
It does appear from their site you can download a free 21 day trial of it.
You can get it from http://www.acresso.com/downloa.....latedLinks
You do need to register for the trial and the download is about 150MB.
If that is a problem, I can look for other repackager programs.

I'll give that a try (InstallShield Premier Repackager) when I get some time in the next few days.

Don't know if it is possible, but is there some way I could install Creatacard on a flash drive from my old computer running XP? That way, I could run it on any PC I'm using, including my Vista 64-bit computer by inserting the flash drive in a USB port.

Programs that from a flash drive should be contained to one folder.
Sense Creatacard wouldn't run when the program folder and even other DLL files were copied over that means there is some other file or registry key that needs to be on the system drive. Whatever that is, it would need to be installed on each system for it to run from a flash drive thus defeating the purpose.

Back to the InstallShield Premier Repackager then. Hope my old computer boots up. It is pretty sad. I may do a System Recovery to restore the computer to its factory-shipped condition. That way I will have a fairly clean system on which to run the Repackager.

Hello,

This thread is about problems with 64 bit Vista and CreataCard 3.

I have the 32 bit version of Vista.
I am also having problems installing CreataCard Gold 3 on to it.

I have the CreataCard Gold 3 application CDROM. When I click on setup.exe, a box pops up saying installsheild. It will run for several minutes and then says "not responding".

I tried using Vista's compatability wizard, but that did not seem to make any difference.

Some of you have indicated that you have loaded CreataCard on to 32 bit systems. Can you let me know how you did that? thank you.

Think we'll be able to install the CreataCard Gold 3 program from CD if we update to Windows 7? Or will we still not be able to due to the 16-bit InstallShield installation program used by the CD?

bcope: There should be no trouble with 16 bit on 32 bit Vista, or hopefully 32 bit 7 for that matter. Kirputer, assuming you have read the rest of the thread, Have you tried a) running the setup program as administrator and possibly b) running it from a command prompt elevated as administrator? The procedure for the latter would be to run cmd.exe as administrator and typing [CD drive letter]:\setup.exe and pressing Enter. I have loaded 16 bit programs onto Vista and the solution seems to differ for each one. Procedure seems to be getting each executable to be run as administrator, possibly with compatability mode set to a 9x system and a variety of the other features selected. One program seemed to have problems installing until I clicked 'Run' instead of 'Install' at the splash screen, which brought up the installer. Another option, especially if the application was originally designed to work on DOS as well/instead of Windows, is to run the installer within a command prompt elevated as administrator. Often virtualization is slow, and it is often easier to buy an old computer for about £20.
The Vista Compatability 'Wizard' is basically useless, you can get the same functionality with the compatability tab for that program's properties.

JH, I wouldn't know about Vista 32-bit, as I'm running Vista 64-bit on my PC. I've tried everything imaginable and still can't get the 32-bit CAC 3 program to install from the CD due to its 16-bit InstallShield installation program. I'm hoping that upgrading to Windows 7 64-bit, I will be able to run 16-bit programs, unlike Vista 64-bit. I haven't a clue if Windows 7 will be backward compatible with 16-bit software, and have no idea who to ask.

Just upgraded (???) my OS to Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Tried to install CAC Gold 3 from original disk and it failed. Error message stating that 16-bit programs not supported.
