i HAVE COPIED SOME mp3 CDs TO EXTERNAL 1TB HARD DISK(SEAGATE). HOWEVER SOME FILES,FOLDERS COPIED TO EXT.HARD DISK WITH DIFFERENT COLOUR(GREEN) AND WHEN TRIED TO PLAY ANY SUCH FILE, I GET ERROR ID AS "OxCOOD11D2 : CANNOT ACCESS THE FILE"
WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM AND HOW TO RESOLVE IT?

Hi Prabhupm,

Welcome to HTG :)
Please don't use all caps. It's considered shouting.

The files may be encrypted. Blue filenames are for compressed files, green filenames are for encrypted files. Try to right-click the file and choose "Properties". Click the "Advanced" button, you may find a checkbox that says "Encrypt Contents To Secure Data", uncheck that.

Info here.

Sir,
I tried your solution , however only the colour of folders changed to black but the colour of mp3 files remains as it is i.e. green.
When tried to play or open the files I get the same message. " OXCOOD11D2 : cannot acess the file"

Do they play while ok from the CD?
How did you prepare your 1TB HDD?
Did you make sure you copied the files or didn't just make shortcuts

the cds playrd fine!
1 TB HDD was preformatted. Further other mp3 files copied are ok
These green coloured files are unable to play and also unable to copy to other place like main HDD, USB drive.

As I say and I repeat, those files are encrypted, no doubt. Do what I said on my previous post on the ORIGINAL MP3 files, then copy them to the HDD. If it does not work, try looking another way for decrypting them from Windows.

If what Ruja suggests doesn't work then it might be some of the Mp3's are copy protected. Jogging my memory I had something like that happen to a friend once. I finally gave up because everything I tried failed. LOL [:(
