I don't think it's meant for backing up your entire drive, it's meant for backing up your documents and important files, and then being able to either access them online, or sync them to another computer.

It's useful for somebody that computers in more than one location, but would like to use the files in both places. It's also useful for people that are mobile a lot but would like to access their documents from anywhere.

OK, agree. For the people on the move that makes a lot of sense. But I was always wondering about the backup aspect of those sites. Ghost does have the option to backup to a remote site - but I am sure your ISP won't like you if you use it. So I guess the best use is for smaller files like Word files etc. Because pictures can get very large too - like my total is 2.5GB's. No problem with the 30GB, but with the DSL.
PS: Sorry Ross I am starting a big discussion about your generous offer. But I was always wondering how those sites are really being used.

It does the backups in the background. It took about 2 hours to backup 800mb worth of small jpg and gifs, on my (allegedly) 3mbit DSL. If you have a Windows Smartphone or Blackberry the service becomes a bit more interesting. Tho the mobile software is a bit weak right now it's still pretty cool, and I've been assured new versions are being created w/ extra features. It's kind of like Mozy, but they've thrown in syncing, web access and mobile backups. I like that there's an OS X client (as I'm an OS X person) but of course there's a Windows client too. And a Linux client is in the works.
