computer shuts down on exe files

my computer shuts down when i download .exe files?
i am using xp OS and have recently had these problems that when i try to download .exe files my computer shuts down and restarts...
like i tried to get the ALZIP program and that happened to me.
but when i installed it from a USB key it worked fine.
any help/advice would be greatly appreciated..

OK, this is possibly your download manager. The system or you may have set it up to shutdown the computer when downloads complete.
