just came across this and thought it sounds pretty thorough.
its called LookInMyPC.

"... generates a complete, comprehensive system profile that includes information on all installed hardware and software. Additionally it provides system diagnostic information such as details on running processes, installed services, startup programs, Windows updates and hot fixes, active network and Internet connections, TCP/IP port usage, event log detail, and much more ..."

I think it's the Firewall on our domain that blocks some of the Reporting.

gedstar,
theres alternatives listed mentioned in the article. if youre needing something like this maybe one of those will work for you. another awesome one that wasnt mentioned is SIW: http://www.gtopala.com/siw-download.php

edit: just as i was about to provide the link i realized the "home' / free edition they used to offer is discontinued so theres only the paid for version.
another HUGE PLUS for this one is that its as thorough as it is and its free.

@LH, sure they can. see ....

I've used it for years. Generally speaking I don't need/want all that data at the same time, and other programs do provide the same data. When ever I do run it, I only have a few items checked, not all.

BELARC ADVISOR does about the same thing too generally speaking.

SIW will probably show you more but you have to select what you are interested in AFTER you run it.
