How-To Geeks,

Quick question about compatibility. I wanna add a few upgrades on to my old mobo till I have all my parts for my new system, but I'm not sure how much is too much for it to handle. I tried searching Google but came up with nothing. I was wondering what the "Intel Brookdale-G i845G" could handle and or what is it compatible with?

My question is this: Is it compatible with a dual-core technology, If so could I have a reference to a cheap, but good Dual-core processor, another upgrade ill need is a graphics card with a 2.0 pixel shader model. If possible I would like a reference to one of those as well. i845G Slot Type: PCI Bus

Hopefully someone knows about this board, Its sorta old.

Thank you for your time.

I need to know if I could install a Daul-Core and If someone could help me find a graphics card that's: PCI Slot, shader model 2.0, has a decent amount of memory and from a reliable purchasing site. I seem to have trouble finding a good PCI gfx card.

EDIT: Guessing any daul core processors available with a 478 socket/pin would be worth a try maybe?

hi timeless, well thanks for the detail it makes it easier. first of all (and you wont like the news)
you can not upgrade to a dual-core CPU socket 478 only allows the
Intel Pentium 4 (1.4 - 3.4 GHz)
Intel Celeron (1.7 - 2.8 GHz)
Celeron D (2.13 - 3.2 GHz)
Intel Pentium 4 Extreme Edition (3.2, 3.4 GHz)
and thats as far as that goes, sorry.
but as far as a good GPU goes then try this one out, its from newegg (very reliable) and it might just do the job provided you not planning on doing some heavy gaming.
Sparkle 9400GT 512mb 128-bit $68

on the other hand, do you have a budget available to overhaul your entire system? these days a good gaming rig can cost less than $500

Thanks for the help. Ill probably just get that card, and install the one i have now into the family room computer. As for a gaming rig. I'm building my own, and I want it to last for a while (technology wise) so I'm building something pretty expensive (most recent parts). So i'm saving up for that.
