Well I got a new computer to replace the one stolen Thanks to insurance.
However I'm not entirley sure that the computer they replaced My old one with is As good as Then again I don't know much.
I had a acer aspire E380 and It has been replaced with a Acer aspire M1200.
I have been of course looking on the internet asn whatnot, But decided what the hell You guys might be able to help,

These are the main differences differences:
1. the processor in the old system was faster
2. the old system had twice as much memory - you should upgrade the new system asap to 2GB of RAM if you run Vista (costs about $44). For XP it does not matter.
3. the graphics are miserable on both - so little change here
4. You got less disk space with the new system (320GB vs. 400GB). Not a big deal, but it adds up.
5. At $799 the new system is very expensive - I paid $480 last year for a system with AMD 4800+, 3GB of RAM and a 22 inch monitor - and that is a lot more system for $300 less.

If I have the correct links, believe both are desktops from the pull-down spec sheets but are hard to compare as you said because the E380 models are now discontinued. I would think newer is better but again, he is dealing with an insurance company from the way his post reads so don't know.

Yes it is really hard to tell.
It's one of those questions which really can't be answered because one model has been discontinued.
An apple and oranges situation plus time marches on.
Over all, the M1200 looks very usable and upgradeable being an OEM complete machine.
It's not like trying to put components together for a self built machine.
That's always a "squabble" even among well intentioned members.

yes I am dealing with insurance thus partly why I suspected Things to be under the equivilent.
Oh and this new computer does in fact have 2GB of ram.
The only reason i actually noticed was when bought the E380 for very cheap new for a good deal, it already had a TV tuner installed and etc as well as I noticed memory was smaller. But You can never win with insurance companyies anyway :P
