Hello guys. I have two problems. i used to have a virus and with the help of someone else on a different forum, i fixed it with his help with a program called combofix. but there forum is down right now, so i need some assistance. two things:

1. in my computer, there are many folders that are there now that werent there before. here is an img to help:

http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/7900/99340690.jpg

(img was too big, and didnt resize, so just click to view)

2. task manager does not start anymore. i open it with every single way that i know and it simply loads for 10 sec, then goes into the taskbar.

thanks!

Control Panel > Folder Options > View
Check the box for Hide protected operating system files.

#2. Not at the moment, but I think it's somewhere on this forum.

Open a Command Prompt (as Administrator), and run the command,
sfc /scannow

Shutdown and bootup twice. Leave at least 10 seconds between the two.

About Task Manager, take a look at this, especially on 'Local Group Policy Editor' to make sure that everything is untouched(default).

i already fixed the task manager one. i need help with #1 now. i did the sfc /scannow and that worked. im curious what that scans for. just corrupt dlls and system files?

but yeah, i believe it was disabled because of a program called combofix.

Right click on a few of the files/folders that should be hidden (example, C:\$RECYCLE.BIN), select Properties. is the "Hidden" box checked ?

When you use combofix it does create other files so you have to clean-up after using it.

Cleaning up after running Cobofix

1/ Click START then RUN
2/ Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK

3/ When shown the disclaimer, Select "2"

The above procedure will:
1/ Delete the following:
2/ ComboFix and its associated files and folders.
3/ VundoFix backups, if present
4/ The C:\Deckard folder, if present
5/ The C:_OtMoveIt folder, if present
6/ Reset the clock settings.
7/ Hide file extensions, if required.
8/ Hide System/Hidden files, if required.
9/ Reset System Restore.
