Is there a way to install the k-lite codec pack on Ubuntu 8.10 or is there an equivalent?

you won't really need it you just install the restricted drivers package and you should be good

are you having issues with something or just wondering?

i need codecs for opencv. I have problem or ubuntu 8.10 and opencv 1.1 have problems about codec packs. I couldn't use cvCreateVideoWriter function. I think it has fault at the step that the codec of the videos are set
