What do you have in your house besides water. In the way of cleaners, chemicals?

Methylated spirits, vinegar, very mild shampoo. That sort of thing
To everyone else
I will make an education of this if you want.
Glass screen?
Plastic screen?
Do you smoke in front of the screen?
Do you live in town or city or country?
open chimney nearby?
lots of animals in the house?

Best to take Lighthouse's advice. After washing his mouse, he must surely be an expert on cleaning electronics. :P

My wife wears glasses with an anti-glare coating, so in *my* house we have microfiber cloths and cleaning solution for coated glasses (no ammonia!)

A moist (and I say moist - not wet) microfiber cloth works best. I would not use any chemicals. Maybe an itty bitty bit of dish detergent.

Seriously. If you want to clean your screen, and you don't have SafeClean.
For a glass screen. 1 spoonful of meths in 3 litres of lukewarm water
For a plastic screen. 1 sml spoonfull of fresh lemon juice or white vinegar in 2 litres of luke warm water.
Clean with old fluffy T-Shirts (nice and soft). Gently on the plastic screens
But as I said before. It depends on your environment.

if ur screen is like mine (toshiba portege m400) then you should be able to remove some stickers on the edging of the screen, then unscrew the screen and wipe it with a microfiber cloth.

I just remembered this one. Here is something you might have around the house for screen cleaning:
