Every time i start up my lap top this box pops up that windows is installing "cisco systems vpn client 4.8.01.0300" ... his has been happening ever since i removed a 3rd party program from the add/remove program app. PLEASE HELP! I'm about to do a hard rest, but did not want to go that route

My computer is moving REALLY S-L-O-W ... Any remedies (it may be because of all the music, photos and pictures for which i am gettin an external hard drive for on friday :-) )

You can typically remove the cisco vpn client entirely from add/remove programs... but is that something you need to use for some reason? It's not a typical end-user app.

Your PC being slow can have a variety of reasons (but probably not because of your music, photos and pictures). I suggest you check 2 things:
1. See when the last disk defragmentation was done. If this is a very long time ago, run one now. You can also use WinDirStat to look at the condition of your disk. This gives a very nice graphic picture of what`s where on the disk.
2. Run Process Explorer to see whether there are processes that monopolize your CPU. If you find some that use unusual amounts (it's in %) of CPU time, report those back. You can usually get more details about the process in question when you hover over the process name.

I downloaded both programs and the column labeled CPU says 96.0 (% --> ?) is being used by "system idle process" - the other program (winDirStat) is telling me that i have the most "junk" in my video's (trunk) - where i do have full movies - but as for everyting else i think its fine - i can send u a prnt scrn if thats necessary !?

CaressMe,

Post pictures of TASK MANAGER Processes and Applications.

Also send list of Config File Start-up programs or a picture.

Your machine is (NOT) repaired.

Kindest Regards,
Rick P. ♥ :)

@CaressMe, you are OK on CPU time. 96% idle is what one would expect. That leaves the disk.

@Rick, yould you please tell CaressMe how to do a disk defrag in XP. As you know I am a Vista only guy and hate to give the wrong instructions for XP.

Here is how to do it:

1. Create your account at http://photobucket.com/ - real easy
2. Use the folder with your name on it or create a subfolder (recommended). You do that on the left side where it says "New Album" > Save
3.Go to "Upload Images and Videos", somewhere in the middle. Now click on "Choose Files". This will most likely bring up your "Pictures" folder (but you can select another folder). Double click on the file you want to upload. After a few seconds you will see it.
4. If you want to post this picture directly on the Forum, click on IMG Code (last link). If you only want to post the link to the picture, click on Direct link. Note: the thing will get yellow - then you got it in your clipboard (from where you Paste).
5. Now you can paste this into your HTG posting. If you chose IMG, the picture will only show up AFTER you posted. In the posting you will only see the link. If you chose "Direct link", it will just be a link.
