Does your laptop show the battery is being charged? If the system is plugged in most of the time, the battery should be fully charged and there should be no charging indicator. If the battery loses some charge while it's plugged in and then has to be recharged, then it could be shortening the battery life.

sometimes, when you put out the plug, it shows an insane amount of battery life (102 hours remaining, 99%). this happens when you "trained" your laptop to be plugged in always.
well, try to balance the power scheme for your laptop, charge it and when it is full, plug it out.

i think that there is a high possibility that if you leave the laptop plugged in all of the time that the battery will lose some of it's life over time.
