i purchased my pc off a friend, and i can't find a way to change the original name. I went to the registry and everything is basically changed to my name, except for when i look into My Computer/C:/Users/"old ownername". Anyone know how to change this? Thanks in advance.

You can't change that name easily.
You can however create a new user account with the name you want and delete the old user account.
You can do this by going to Control Panel -> User Accounts.
Note: You will lose all the files in the old User Account if you delete it.

I can provide more details on how if you want to do that.

but does reformatting is better than changing the name? because it think it will degrade some administrative rights..like what happen to my notebook which was originally name after my uncle..after i deleted his user name and got my own, it appeared as a degraded administrator..

You just need to make the new account an Administrator then it will have full Administrator access.
