Hi

Is there a way to modify for time for the point-to-select feature when the Single-Click Folder option is enabled.

I'm big fan of the Single-Click option for explorer, but in Vista the point-to-select feature is way to fast for my liking, especially when trying to use Save-as dialogs (problem described in detail in by another author at http://www.eggheadcafe.com/sof.....click.aspx). What I'd like to do is to either modify the time for the point-to-select kicks in or if that is not possible, disable it...

Do you know how to do it?

Thank you in advance
Claes

Claes: HallÄ! VÀlkommen! I like point-to-select, as well, and I have the same problem mentioned. There may be a registry hack to extend the time from mouse over until select, but I don't know it. To disable point-to-select, go to Control Panel -> (Appearance and Personalization) -> Folder Options. On the General tab is the choice between Single-Click and Double-Click.

Here's another interesting option in that same control panel. On the View tab, you can check "Use check boxes to select items". This adds a little check box, invisible until needed, to every File Explorer display. So, when selecting files you must left-click and a mouse over won't change the file name in a save dialog.

You are a genius! The "Use check boxes to select items" solved the point-to-select issue! Thanks a million!
