I wish to change the data source on word to a folder other than the default 'My Data Sources' which appears to be in My Documents. If possible, change it to a network folder. I know I can do it from the Select Data Souce dialogue box, but I want the pointer to this folder, to point to another, permanently. Is this possible ? Many thanks in advance.

Change Default Data Source on Mocrosoft Word
(2 posts)You can change the value MyData in the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Common\DataServices to change the path/name of the folder relative to the My Documents folder.
You can put ..\ in the value to put it in the parent of the My Documents folder.
You would Windows Vista with it's symlink support to make it go to a network folder though.
