Well I've been looking at this site now for a few weeks now and i have to say I spend a lot of time reading the how-to's and blogs. Even if the information doesn't pertain to my systems. So kudos to "The-Geek" on this site, I love it :) Anyway I have a laptop with vista home premium and the eject key is sometimes hard to find and i was wondering if yall knew of a keyboard shortcut to eject the cd drive or if i could create my own hot key or something for it. Any help would be appreciated.

Not a hotkey but if you click on Start then go to Computer then right click on the cd drive. The eject option is listed

What you could try is to use this nirsoft utility and then assign a hotkey to it in the properties dialog.

http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/nircmd.html

You might have to logoff / back on before the hotkey will activate. You'll want to make the shortcut in your start menu or quick launch for best results.

Thanks for the compliments, it's always nice to know we're helping people =)

There is also a little program called Easy CD. Havent tried it, but it does let you set hotkeys for eject. Google it !

If you have a laptop, there may be a key for it already. If you have a key called "Fn," possibly in a different color than the other symbols on your keyboard, then look for a symbol in the same color that looks like a CD ejecting or an eject symbol. Press Fn and that key and it should open your drive. For mine, that would be Fn + F10.

well taybay your idea made sense but on my laptop i found no such eject key for the Fn key. However the commandline software Geek sugested appears to be perfect but i don't know how to use it even after reading the faq and "Using NirCmd utility" section on the website. :(
