I have tried using all suggested fixes for removing the search box in IE8. Internet Explorer nor any other Microsoft component shows up using regedit or gpedit.msc.
I have tried:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\POLICIES\MICROSOFT\INTERNET EXPLORER

trying to get to "NO SEARCH BOX" with no luck. Am I missing some rights in XP?

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Infodelivery\Restrictions
Create dword "NoSearchBox"
Set the value to 1.
