can't open emails have vista home basic

emails will forward, delete and create new emails but will not open emails inthe inbox.please help

Have you set 'preview' open? If so close that.
There might be a faulty email in the inbox that is jamming the lot.

You can reset the inbox folder and see if that helps.
If you want to go that way I'll help you backup your files first and then post instructions on how to reset ;)

Are you using webmail or a client like Outlook or Thunderbird?
If you are using a client what happens when you login to your account via webmail?
