When I hover over the sound icon (red x), I get the message "No audio output device is installed"
However I know there is because when I boot up in Windows 7, the sound works fine.

I believe i have a realtek sound adapter?
I've tried some drivers from realtek, but nothing seems to work.
how can I solve this?

I think you should check the device manager. Find your audio card under Audio devices and right click and select properties.. You should see your driver there, if there is any.. Try to update the driver with that 'properties' box's updating command.. Hope that works
