Can't get any of my configuration utilities to open

Not sure what happened but I now cannot run any of the following....msconfig, regedit, MMC, system restore or anything from "Run" I get box saying "The service cannot accept control messages at this time."

Can someone please help me straighten this out?

A virus or malware is a contender but first try to open System Restore by clicking the Start button, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and then clicking System Restore and by typing System Restore in the Start Menu Search box then clicking on it assuming the system see's it.

Both ways it still gives me a box with a red X saying The service cannot accept control messages at this time.

Hi Rob ,

Download and run TDSS killer : http://support.kaspersky.com/f.....83363#tdss "cure" is the default selection as opposed to quarantine just hit continue if anything is found.

But please make a note of it.
