I created a virtual drive via Misticgeek's instructions, and all went well. I didn't put anything on it. After restart, the .vhd partition is no longer there in Disk Management as Misticgeek said it should be. Is there another step involved in order to make it visible?

VHDs usually disappear after a restart. No idea what the Misticgeeks instructions were. Can you post the tutorial link.
