Cannot open password-protected .docx file

I cannot open a Word 2007 file that is password-protected, despite having opened it successfully dozens of times before. I have made sure caps lock is not on, and I have made sure I have typed the password correctly. This file contains vital information that is not saved anywhere else ... for security reasons. I am stuck without it.

Do you have a backup of the file?

Yes I do. That one wouldn't open, either!
After closing down all programs, including Word, when I tried again, the offending file opened properly. Good. I have made a pdf copy, and password-protected that, so if the same thing happens again, at least I can get access to my data, even if I can't edit it right away.

Unless your profession is some kind of "Spook" or you are involved in "Black Ops"; suggest you NOT lock yourself out of your own files in the future.
Good Security is one thing but Paranoia is another issue.
