Hi,
I can't get the PuTTY home page at http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/ and I'm fairly sure it isn't down, it's just my ISP has a problem as http://hidemy.info loads it and when I ssh into my web host I can get to it.
Just to triple check my facts can everyone else here get to the page?
Justin

Edit: This was suppose to be in "Geek Stuff" but I forgot to change the forum select box.

I can get to it. Could it be a problem in your host file?

Nope. I can't get to it on any of the computers here.
I did call my ISP and they can't get to it either. They said there were checking their equipment about an hour ago and would call me back later.
They just sent me an email with the Google cache copy of the page which doesn't do much except tell me Google sees the page too.
Between that and the first part of the call where the person was thinking the site was just down I was thinking maybe they thought it was down too.
Then I started to think maybe it was just down so I posted this topic to check that idea.
I guess I'll just wait for my ISP now and hope they are still checking things and can find the problem.

In the meantime. if you want to read what's on the page to be all prepared when you get to it:

PuTTY: A Free Telnet/SSH Client
Home | Licence | FAQ | Docs | Download | Keys | Links
Mirrors | Updates | Feedback | Changes | Wishlist | Team

PuTTY is a free implementation of Telnet and SSH for Win32 and Unix platforms, along with an xterm terminal emulator. It is written and maintained primarily by Simon Tatham.

The latest version is beta 0.60.

LEGAL WARNING: Use of PuTTY, PSCP, PSFTP and Plink is illegal in countries where encryption is outlawed. I believe it is legal to use PuTTY, PSCP, PSFTP and Plink in England and Wales and in many other countries, but I am not a lawyer and so if in doubt you should seek legal advice before downloading it. You may find this site useful (it's a survey of cryptography laws in many countries) but I can't vouch for its correctness.

Use of the Telnet-only binary (PuTTYtel) is unrestricted by any cryptography laws.

PuTTY 0.60 is out, containing mostly bug fixes.

2006-03-31 Proposed withdrawal of Alpha NT PuTTY

From the next release, we propose to stop providing binaries for PuTTY on Windows NT on the Alpha processor. Our own original need for PuTTY on Alpha NT has gone, and our logs suggest that nobody else now uses it. If this is a problem for you, let us know.

@whs, The Geek: Wow, that was more help on this then I expected.
I actually still have a copy of PuTTY 0.60 I downloaded 7 months ago when I had an ISP that could reach that site and that is still the latest version according to the Google cache so downloading it isn't a big problem right now.
I'm just trying to sort this problem out in case there is a new version to download later on.
I would have thought after 7 months there would be a new version but apparently not.
Thanks for the help anyway.

You should try the PuTTY Tray version instead... it's the same thing but updated with lots of new features by somebody else.

I got a call from my ISP a couple weeks ago saying that the whole netblock was blocking my ISP from connecting to sites in it. They are trying to contact the owner of the netblock and figure out why. So far it appears they haven't been successful as I haven't got a call back.
I looked and found it appears the netblock owner is Jump Networks Ltd.. I can't get to that site either go that must be what is going on.
I searched online and found there mirrors of PuTTY's site like http://www.puttyssh.org/ so it seems like not that big of a deal.
I also tried PuTTY Tray. I like the auto reconnect feature so I will probably stay with it anyway.
