if you mean can you upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 the answer is no. You can upgrade XP to Vista and then upgrade Vista to windows 7. I did this just to see if it really works and it did but there was so much junk from years of XP obsolete files I decided to breakdown and do a clean install.
Germ-x,
Please note that when migrating from Windows XP to Windows 7 you will not have an "in place upgrade" option. You will however have the option to select "custom" install when prompted. The Windows 7 install process will then copy all of your data in "My Documents" over to a Windows.old folder within Windows 7 itself. All applications and documents stored in other locations will have to be reinstalled / transferred manually.

Upgraded one XP system to Vista then to win7. This saved me from having to reinstall like Jessica said. Everything worked ok but there was just too much junk left over from years of XP and the backup files from XP to Vista to Win7. Decided to downloaded all necessary drivers and did a clean install of win7. Really was easier then all the above. Also have a nice, new, clean system.
