Hi.
A really annoying student of mine is turning my desktop off when I am helping other students; I want to catch him in the act so that I can get him the help he needs...
Is there a way to make my computer beep when the power switch (on the power supply) is turned off? That way, I could hear it from other student's desks.
Thanks a bunch!

Welcome to The HTG Forums.
Do you mean Power Switch on the front of the machine (OR) the Master Power Switch on the rear of some machines ????
If you mean the Power Switch on the Front of the Machine, go to Contol Panel>>Power Options>>Advanced Tab and Select "DO NOTHING" to Question: "When I press the power button on my computer".
This (may) STOP student from turning off your machine with front power button.

Cool! I will have to try this. However, I believe the lad is using the Master Power Switch on the rear of the machine (my computer sits on a desk and faces towards the class).
Thanks again (and do we have the same initials???)

RickP,
Well if student is turning off Master Power Supply Button on Rear of Machine, I don't have a solution for that except may be a Teacher / Parent Conference because you could loose valuable data on your machine due to incorrect shut down procedure.

RickP, here was my first thought. Put some ink or white-out on the switch. Then when you find your system is off, ask for a show of hands with all fingertips showing! My wife says the ink would dry out, so my next idea is shoe polish. If the switch is black, use black and so on. If the switch is red, you could catch the little culprit red-handed (nyuck, nyuck!)

ScottW, I like your low-tech approach; it may just work! I was thinking some UV ink, but where do you buy that? For how much? Shoe polish, I have, though not in red... 8-}
Thanks a lot!
