can anyone help me please,

had computer on vista, which wasn't working. drive wiped with c cleaner and tried to install off windows disc which i got with computer. just keeps telling me no package installed. i cannot do computer speak so am stuck on a black screen. any suggestions please? or do i need to get someone in to repair?

6yr old asus or acer. vista home basic. sorry will need to check. am on computer at local library. will check and repost tomorrow. thank you

You could try, in the meantime, booting from the installation DVD again. It can sometimes take a few goes before it installs properly.

its an acer aspire and when i go to boot menu it says missing operating system and doesnt do anything with my discs.

Just to be clear, you are trying to a clean install of Vista, yes ?
What is written on the disk(s) ?

You need to select CD/DVD as your primary boot in the BIOS options.

And when the CD tries to boot, watch for a message on the top the screen that says "Press any key ...."
