Can any one suggest me which is the best anti-virus software?

I Recommend Microsoft Security Essentials - Free For Genuine Windows Users
Avast, Avira or MSE (choose one) for constant monitoring. Malwarebytes and Superantispyware for periodic on-demand scanning. Spywareblaster which sets killbits in the registry but doesn't actually run...you need to update it manually in the free version.
Pick 1 AV + the 2 scanners and Spywareblaster and you'll be reasonably well covered.

Plus, these 2 (run a regular scan with them, say one on a Wednesday, and the other on Saturday. Or whenever you even suspect you may have a problem.

Windows Firewall is just fine.
Do not use registry cleaners, except for the one in CCleaner

I use the free edition for all three on both my laptop and desktop and I don't have any problems.
