Can a Windows operating sytem be installed on an external hard drive? I think I read that the lastest version of Ubutu can be ran from a flash drive.

If this could be done it would seem to be a handy thing.

Thanks

sbolton,
Why would one want to run an O/S off the slowest bus in the system ????

I run Fedora from a USB stick and that is also possible for other operating systems. But that is only good for testing purposes because when the session is over, nothing is being retained and next time you boot, you start at square one again. Here is an XP example.
