Hey I have an avi file that I want to burn to a dvd and then play in my dvd player
I have NTI CD & DVD MAker 7
I don't want to pay for anything extra, although if necessary freeware is fine! (providing it has no viruses!)
How do I do this?

No, that program doesn't do AVI to video DVD.
It will burn a video DVD if the vob files are created in another program.
I don't know of a program to do that, that is free. I use Nero to make and burn video DVDs.

There are a few trial versions on the web. If you Google you will find them.

Aleeve, this is the Vista forum -- have you tried Windows DVD Maker? Free, built-in, and should burn to DVD any video file it can read.

@Scott,
Yes, Windows DVD maker does burn AVI files to a normal CD or a DVD,
I use it for burning movies that i get from the net :P

P.S
I don't know if it's the settings i use, but the last dvd i burned ( I am Legend ) the widescreen (16:9) turns to a Dam Ugly Squishy Squarey video.

Aleeve, it may be that DVD Maker can't read the file because you are missing DirectShow filters (which are like codecs) for the type of video or audio in the AVI container. Try using this little utility, MediaInfo, to find out what format the video and audio are encoded in. MediaInfo is free, open-source from SourceForge:
