I've had a lot of BSOD's in the last week. Can someone interpret the information BlueScreenView gives? What could be the cause?
OS: 64 bit Windows7 Home Premium.
No recent changes in hardware or software besides the Windows updates last week.

Switch the memory modules around between the sockets.

I can easily try that out since I have 3 modules and 4 slots. What is more likely? A defect slot or a defect module?

The memory is setup wrong if you have 4 slots and 3 modules.

3 modules will normally give you Single Channel "Odd ball" addressing mode in many machines.

To be certain I ran Speccy. It verifies that I have got 6 gig dual-slot DDR3 memory and 4 slots of which 1 is free.
My computer is an Acer Aspire desktop. Standard configuration with the exception of an added tv-card and an upgraded graphics card.

Have you ran any diagnostics on the memory like Memtest86+,etc.?

Not yet, I am either going to run a RAM-check one of these days or I am going to replace the modules one by one until I don't get BSOD's anymore.
I am willing to speculate since these modules are not that expensive anymore. In the meantime I've got two more BSOD's.
I got those BSOD's quite often since I own this computer but never this much. Given the fact that I have just done a clean install two months ago and there are no recent relevant software or hardware changes and given the randomness of the BSOD's, the bug check strings and some other symptoms (random freezes while watching live television) there must be soms hardware failure. My harddisk should be fine so I put my money on defect RAM-modules. If I change these modules one by one I'll let know the result.

The model number of my desktop is Aspire M5810.

The last two BSOD's:

"Although the memory can be installed one module at a time, the best performance comes from using matched pairs of modules."
Weird, I bought it like that in the shop. I guess someone screwed up. At least now I know. Thanks.
Maybe I could try to first just install an extra module and see what happens. Hopefully the shops closeby sell two gig of that brand and model.

That's why I posted above the memory was setup wrong without even knowing the model number of the machine. :)

Best to purchase TWO memory kits as per link and throw all old memory away.

That way, all memory modules MATCH.

Eight days ago I removed one module, now I have two modules on one side. Since then I haven't had a crash.
- knocking on wood - ;)
However, only when the crashes stay away for 2-3 months I can say for certain that the problem is solved since I had periods of aproximately two months without a crash before.
I'm having doubts wether or not to insert extra modules. Right now I don't game frequently but it might be convenient to have more than 4 gig of RAM when I do play games.
It is quite difficult to insert a module in my computer because the cables and a pipe for the ventilator are blocking the little space there is. Even after I remove my graphics card I can't insert a module without an extra pair of hands. My desktopcase has a regular size.

The memory modules have to be in the correct slots as per your manual or the machine will not be running in Dual Channel Mode. Best solution is to disassemble machine and install matching memory modules as I posted above.

I know its take some work but must be done. :) :)

I'll ask the shop to help me with that when I buy them, they should be able to install it immediately since they are used to it. Because there is so little space it takes two pairs of hands and some handiness, getting them out is much easier then precisely placing them exactly at the right spot (small and you can't see the slit in the module properly) in a dark space with a lot of cables and a pipe. ;)
