What do you mean by "Broadband usage"? Do you mean the speed of your connection?

Interesting question to which I don't know the answer. But why would one want to know that?

I think dial up use to provide a certain amount of minutes per month, such as AOL did when I had it.Perhaps some ISP's still practice this,I use Comcast here in the states, which doesn't.

I think I know what he means. Because, I have a friend in UK with 2Meg connection. If he goes over 2Meg, he gets charged extra.

If anything, there should be A phone number to call (the isp) and find out.

Only a few years ago when I had my 1st machine, built by a neighbor, around 2000,I had AOL.It took me 2 months to figure that I was getting screwed without a kiss.If there is indeed a greedy provider around, then I would flush them like an unwanted turd(poop, crap, log, etc.)

Agree, you want to know ahead of time what you are in for.

You could try using NetLimiter 2. It shows you how much you have uploaded and downloaded every hour during the day. The free version (which I use) is basically a network monitoring s/w and should tell you about your broadband usage.

You could think about this free one, which I quite like.
