So I recently decided I wanted to repartition my system hard drive to give myself more room for game installs. Everytime I try and boot from my windows 7 disk though I get the dreaded "Bootmgr image is corrupt. System cannot be started" error message. I can boot up into Windows just fine though as long as I skip the dvd.

Thought maybe my disk was just unreadable, so I burned a newer windows image disk and a system recovery disk as well. I'm unable to boot off of any of the three disks that I've tried though, but within windows I can open the contents of the disks and even run setup, so it can't be a drive failure or unreadable disks.

For the last 2 days I've been scouring the internet for info about this issue, but everything I've read pertains to booting off a disk to fix the HDD. I apparently have the exact opposite problem, and the only info I can find (which is how I found HTG) about a similar problem points to hardware failure. Any help you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Try this: http://neosmart.net/wiki/displ.....om+the+DVD

A full picture of your Disk management would also help to assess the situation.

DarthCheney,

Download and burn a copy of your O/S from here.

If an original fails to boot, the DVD Burner or Memory is bad.

Also check the machine manufacturer's site for an Updated Bios File.

Hey guys, thanks for the quick replies!

I actually managed to resolve the issue before I even checked back here though. I just took out my sata cable to my DVD drive and motherboard and re seated it and voila, that was all it took. I already got my new partition up and running!

I'll have to remember to do this first from now on. But thank you very much again for the help and I will certainly remember HTG in any future PC crises that I may encounter.

DarthCheney,

THANKS for posting back The Solution.

Sometimes we at HTG here, tend to go for the more technical solutions and forget the simple issues
which may fix problems.

I'm probably the worst one on the forum for doing that. (LOL) (LOL) :) :)

Glad YOU got it fixed !!!!

Regards,

Rick P.
