Hi all,
I have a mini Dell laptop (No optical Drive in it). I created a bootable usb stick with Windows XP and I installed it successfully.
Now the problem is that the boot.ini is loading from the USB stick. If I remove it , Windows will fail in starting.
I tried to install recovery console but couldn't, also I am not able to boot with the USB stick to repair my XP installation. Any help please?

Use an x86 version of Vista/7/8 Repair on the USB.Make sure the OS drive is active and use the bootrec (fixmbr/fixboot)commands and Modify the boot.ini to target the appropriate drive. USB versions of XP love to target themselves.

I copied the boot.ini file from the usb stick and replace it with the one located on my hard disk and edit it. Now it is working fine.
