Just bought a Toshiba L305D-s5873. and really learned to hate microsoft. Thought i was going to be stuck with Vista thanks to folks like you i got it done -- I got the partion done as detailed by this web site - downloaded vista boot - didn't need to load netframework. put xp pro in - things were looking good -- blue screen of death - said error on disk -- ran chkdsk on both partitions from ms dos -- tried a few more times trying dif stuff -- disable virus program ect. no luck -- same blue same "%@&**#" Started readin' forum -- one guy with toshiba U405 - found internal disk controller had to be set to compatibility mode instead of AHCI (SATA) controller in bios) --BINGO__ no more blue screen -- XP loaded right up Unfortunately i forgot to config Vista boot before the instal of XP. Could only boot into xp. used the xp disc to format xp partition - now i've got no ops at all xp is gone and I have vista on the c: partition but i can't access it - Recovery disks are on the other side of town -- don't want them anywhere nere this computer if i can help it Ywo days configerin' and all. Anyone know how i can refpair boot log. Help is Appreciated -- thanks -- oldsoes

First you can reinstall Windows XP. There was nothing wrong with it only booting into XP as you can fix it in Windows XP.
Just scroll down to "We'll assume XP is completely installed at this point" at http://www.howtogeek.com/howto.....-computer/ to see instructions for restoring the Windows Vista boot loader from within Windows XP and adding Windows XP to the Windows Vista boot menu.
Note: You will need VistaBootPro to do that so if the Windows XP install doesn't have networking drivers you will have to transfer it from another computer with a disc or something.
