Blu-Ray choppy playback Dell PC

Hi,I have a dell studio one 19. Windows 7, with powerdvd dx 8.1 preinstalled.

When I try to play the a blu-ray disc, I have choppy playback. It plays for about 2 seconds, paused for a split second, then plays again, then pauses etc. I have used the trial version of TotalMedia Theatre 3, and it playsback fine. So I think its powerdvd. I have unistalled and reinstalled it.

I have asked cyberlink, they said go see dell. I have tried talking with tech support (I use the term loosely). There solution was to ask me to wipe the operating system and start again, which to me doesn't make sense as TotalMedia Theatre 3 seems to work fine.

Any suggestions ?

I have read that DataSafe is the problem.
Dell support suggested updating DataSafe to resolve the issue.

perform the following steps to fix the issue related to the Blue Ray Drive:

Make sure you are connected to the internet.
2. Launch Windows Explorer
3. Navigate to ? ?C:\program files\Dell Datasafe local backup\components\dsupdate\dsupdate.exe?
4. Double click dsupdate.exe to manually update the application.

I have read that most Dell user removed Datasafe since they aren't using the program and problem was corrected.

thanks for your reply, however I do not have dell datasafe, problem still remains
