The LCD screen on our DV-6000 series laptop is completely black, we have the laptop hooked to an external monitor and the display is working perfectly there.

To try to remedy the black screen we have updated all drivers, done all windows updates, and we did a BIOS flash, but still we have a black screen.

I am thinking at this point it is hardware related. I have ordered an inverter for the screen because it is the cheapest fix to try. The laptop is old so I won't replace the LCD or attempt to replace the back-light on the LCD.

I am posting because I am trying to figure out if I am missing anything; as related to things to troubleshoot or other possible causes of the black screen.

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Ottawa1 ,

Welcome to HTG ,

By the sounds of it the Inverter would be my port of call too as it is viewable on an external monitor.
