I use windows 7 ultimate. I set a password for my external hard disk(Western Digital, 250GB) using bit locker drive encryption. When i tried to encrypt the data inside my drive, it completed to 49% but suddenly stopped with the error shown in image.
My hard disk is perfectly fine and has no errors. what to do??

You need to run Command Prompt as Administrator.

When you use bit-locker you don't have to encrypt the files inside the drive,

When you lock the drive all its contents are encrypted,

So what you have done is encrypted twice,

When you first used bit-locker it gave you a BitLocker recovery key use that to see if it can un-encrypt the drive
