So my fellow geeks, tell us all the BOINIC projects you are currently sharing your spare CPU cycles with, as for me, I am running:

SETI@home--Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence
microFluids@home—(no Greek letters, so sad) Caculates the behaviors of fluids at zero g’s.
LHC@home--To help calculate predictions for the Large Hadron Collider (who doesn’t want to help predict the formation of microsingularities?).

I did miss that one, thanks Lighthouse!

microsingularities
Very Dangerous
And why is SETI spending millions of $ looking, when they are here?

Now you edit. Then I edit. And no one is the wiser :)

Sparky, there is some truth in what you say. It's no fun any more. I liked the analogy with "watching the paint dry".

Are you guys having that big of a slowness problem? Is it happening across the board, or just sometimes?

For me, the server is blazing fast... other than yesterday afternoon and monday I've not been able to personally see any problems.

Hi Geek, things appear normal again,I tried both my machines at various web sites during those times, and had no problems. You did post earlier about the server being flaky, who knows.

@Lighthouse: sorry for hijacking your thread... sparky and whs seemed very upset, and I am trying to figure out what is going on.

No need to apologize. I can see we are all having problems at different times. Bon chance et bon courage

Geek, I am never upset - just trying to provide input. The worst problems are the intermittent ones.

I'm glad you aren't upset... I am though :)

I can't stand slow servers, drives me crazy. The whole point of switching to a new server is so we can handle the load better... especially as I roll out new features in the next week or two.

I wasn't really upset either,I was switching back and forth on my machines,as they sit side by side. And couldn't figure why a top rated server would take so long to correct a problem.Everything is good now

So I guess what you all are telling me is that this was a pretty lame topic....humm, I'll have to post a new one that is even lamer before I head off to my poker game tonight. Should be interesting to see where that one leads when I get back on tomorrow afternoon...

;p

Well then sir (at least I assume sir), download BOINIC and join a project or four so you don't get left out! I've been considering adding folding@home as well, and I would in a heartbeat if I had a quad core processor.

I had a poke around, and didn't find a lot of projects involved (I find that unusual). Maybe I'm not looking in the right places?
