Hi folks. For the first time I have been trying to back up some of my files to dvd-rw, and while I can back up one file with no probs. when I go to put another file on the dvd I get the message "Windows does not support this format. To use this disc, choose task "Erase this cd-rw " which will format the disc so that Windows can use it".
On a normal memory stick loads of files can be transferred, why can I only put 1 file on a dvd? Wonder what I am not doing right?
I am using Windows XP sp3.
Would welcome advice.
Thanks

A lot of us here use it.
The First one I posted doesn't even have to be installed.

It's really too simple because you can't even erase a R/W.
I've always used imgburn and am happy also. :)
I never realised there were so many permutations. Just as I was getting to the end of reading the links supplied initially by raphoenix there are loads more. Why don't computer manufacturers put one on the machine initially? maybe they do on some, after all it is possible to burn one file, ( in my case anyway), and only one file before having to install a new prog. I really must have a simple tool and anyway what I want to do is relatively basic, as not having any expertise with computers. Think I will go for imgburn. Many thanks for all the input, I am a lot wiser.
Just been to download IMG burn on the File Hippo site, but a warning from WOT flashed up saying that the site koyetesoft, com was dangerous, etc. Suppose as others have done it must be ok, unless it has just recently happened to this site. Have tried it twice just to check it but same thing. Is it ok to go ahead? Would appreciate guidance from those better informed than me.

koyetesoft.com is a completely different site to FileHippo. So I don't know how you are getting that.

Mission accomplished. Super programme and I love the somewhat informal comments about being an ostrich etc when choosing yes/no option. I was given a start when having successfully finishing my programme a loud jingle played which is surprising when not expecting it - a bit like Ryan Air when they land on play the hunting horn jingle. Must turn the computer sound down next time.
Thanks to all, great stuff.
