After updating Free AVG .8 anti virus program yesterday, a message pops up saying that I need to reboot the PC so the update will take effect. Since yesterday I have rebooted a lot of times and the AVG keeps wanting to reboot after the message that the update was completed. Anyone have similar problems?

Believe I remember AVG having a "BAD" update a couple months ago which caused similar problems. Was all over the net.

Haven't read all my mags today so don't know if it happened again ??

Well this just could be it... I just bought a new PC and turned it on last Monday, which is when I installed AVG. Any chance of pointing me to that previous thread? or letting me know how it turned out?

Thanks to the mods for transferring this post to the right forum :+)

AVG is nothing but headaches as far as I have seen. I suggest to remove it with Revo (use the last, most severe option - you'll see) and get another security suite. There are plenty free and fee ones available. Currently the best rated are Norton IS 2009 and Kaspersky IS09.

I have never had any difficulties with Avast.
