I am using Windows XP, i am unable to connect to the internet automatically. I always need to do that manually going to network connections. How could i do so?

Check your wireless settings and make sure "Connect automatically when this network is in range" has a check mark in it.

I take it you are connecting using wireless and not an ethernet cable.

Either way - in your Internet Options (Tools -> internet options)
go to the connections tab, select Never dial a conenction
click on the Lan settings - select Automatically detect settings - then close the menus

next go to the Tools menu again and deselect 'Work Offline'

if you are still having problems, update your O/S with MS update and make sure your browser is up to date
