Today when I turned on my computer I typed in my password to log on and when I clicked enter the computer restarted. This happened like 2-3 times before I decided to go on Safe Mode to see if there might have been some sort of program added to my start up that was causing the problem. I couldn't find anything that looked that suspicious except something called dumprep 0 -k. I'm not sure what that is.
So I searched and it seems from what I can tell it might be harmless... but I'm not sure.
Also since I couldn't find anything worth trying to unclick from start up I went ahead and searched through the forums to see if there was anything I could/should try. I found one and decided to disable auto-restart and see what my error message came up as.
Here it is:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to make sure you have adequate disk space. If driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters.

Check with your hardware for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as catching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable componets, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup options, and then select Safe Mode.

Technical information:
*** STOP: 0x0000008E (0xc0000005, 0xEF9178D3, 0xF7963970, 0x00000000)

The adequate disk space reminded me that my friend had put a new game on my computer. so I thought that maybe it had taken up too much space. I went under safe mode and looked at how much space was left on my driver C. I had less than a quarter but decided to just uninstall on of my larger games (World of Warcraft) and that gave me more space. So then I tried restarting and logging in again to see if that might have worked.
It didn't and I didn't want to go further without another persons perspective on what I should do from here.

My C Drive has a capacity of 224GB. 171 GB is used and 53.1 GB is free.
I don't know if it will help any but my D drive has a capacity of 7.91 GB. 7.36 GB is used and 557MB is free.

I also think there is a very good possibility that I may have a virus. I thought I got ride of it a while ago but my computer acts up now and then, and when I do scan it, sometimes it picks up some virus' and removes them, other times it doesn't.
I have Symantec AntiVirus and Windows Defender on my computer (though I think my defender might be damaged...)
I also have been doing my scans with my free version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware -which I had used to solve my virus problem in the past.
I will get more information that anyone may need to help me with this.
Also I thought I should add that before this, my computer had started to freeze recently at the login screen. Though usually if I restart it, it would work.
For now I'm going to do a full scan using Malwarebytes on my administrator account. To see if that finds anything.

Any help I would greatly appreciate.
Thank you.

raphoenix, thank you for the program, but when I try to use it, it says 'error: could not start Sanity filter.'
Would you happen to know whats wrong? Also, if its that I need to disable my virus protection, would you have any advice onto how to disable it on safe mode? Should I be under administrator or my regular name? And I've tried disabling by right clicking but I have no option to disable it and my security center in safe mode doesn't have anything on virus protection only windows firewall, internet options, and automatic updates.

Thank you for your help so far. I appreciate it.
Also just so everyone knows, when I scanned my computer yesterday it found nothing...though it wouldn't surprise me if there was a virus hiding in there somewhere.

Fallen304,

Read this and download plus run this OLD Program on right hand side of page.
http://technet.microsoft.com/e.....97445.aspx
---
Would normally think you had a hardware problem BUT gaming history suggest maybe a Root Kit especially if machine never had problems before.
---
If this OLD Program won't run, would start considering a Clean Install.
---
I run NO AV protection on this machine and am not a games person so maybe another member who is will jump in and can give better assistance.
---
Post back as to results.

Stop 8E points to a RAM error, but can be caused by a driver or software accessing your RAM incorrectly. If you have not installed any new software or drivers then you should run memtest86+.

http://www.memtest.org/

Probably a good idea to run it and rule out faulty RAM anyway.

raphoenix, but I cant get into Normal mode the usual way because of the automatic restart when I try to login, do you know another way to get into normal mode?

Also,
jonhill987, I don't know if I chose the right download, but I downloaded Memtest86+ V2.11 (22/12/2008) Pre-Compiled bootable ISO (.zip)

When I went to run it, the program that came up looked like a one used to burn information to disks. I didn't get what I was suppose to do from there so I closed it and when I did that, error messages came up:

Mediahub.exe - Application Error

The instructions at "0x00a8a94b" referenced memory at "0x12963acf". The memory could not be "written".
Click ok to terminate the program.

then the message came up again with the only difference being the number codes, which were "0x12997862" and "0xa0605512"

Then one more error message came up after closing out of those:

Microsoft Visual C++ runtime library

Runtime Error!
Program: ...ommon Files\Sonic Shared\ Sonic Central\Main\Mediahub.exe
R6025
-pure virtual function call

I don't know if those only came up because I closed the program or if that shows anything significant.

Fallen, I think that a memory test is not a bad idea. You said before that the system started "freezing" at the login screen. Then it began the restarting and did a memory dump. Since the problem started out as one thing (freezing) and got worse (restarts + memdump), it is possible that we are looking at a hardware problem.

MemTest86+, suggested by johnhill987, is the best memory test that I know of. Inside of that ZIP file is the ISO file which is an image of a bootable CD that needs to be burned to a blank CD-R disc. Extract the ISO file from the ZIP file. Then use some CD burning software to write the ISO image. If you don't already have some burning software such as Nero or Roxio, use a simple freeware program such as ImgBurn.

Once the image is burned on the CD, you can restart your system and *boot* from the MemTest86+ CD. If your CD-ROM drive is not in the boot sequence ahead of your hard drive you will need to modify the boot sequence or use a boot menu, if available, to select to boot from the CD-ROM drive. MemTest86+ will begin testing as soon as it boots, as I recall. Let it run through multiple passes overnight then report back on the results.

Fallen,to fix your "Mediahub.exe - Application Error" and "Microsoft Visual C++ runtime library" you will need to read this. Best wishes.
