If you mean the Vista aurora thing, its in desktop backgrounds anyway!
GO to desktop
right click - personalise
desktop background
under picture location click windows wallpapers
scroll down to 'vistas' and click on the one you want!

Got it

ok

Go to Computer - C Drive - Windows - System 32

be careful here if you delete anything your computer will go bust! (probably set a system restore point before doing any of this)

click tools - folder options - view - show hidden files and folders

arrange files by type

scroll down until the file type is screen saver (.scr)
there will be one called aurora - good luck!

should look like this:

if you need help with anything else i said give us a shout!

Hi thanks for the info , i followed the instructions and found the Aurora icon but wasn't sure what to do do next , i found where the dream scene folder was which was in C drive/windows/web and pasted it there but when i go to personalize and click dream scene content it doesn't show anything in the folder so a bit stuck any thoughts

So you have found the icon screensaver file then? (Like the picture above?)

Right, well perhaps the file is locked, I'm not entirely sure. I've never actually used dreamscene, so that's probably where my help ends! Hopefully someone else will come along.
Still, I can still try - so what is actually going wrong?

Hi in my desktop drop down menu i have the extra option of playing a video or choosing from dream scene content which is kept in windows/web in C drive . I will be honest i don't know much about computers so i don't know why it can't see the Aurora icon , but like you say somebody might be able to help but thanks again for showing me where it is kept

Cheers Dave

As far as I can make out, Dreamscene is a video-to-wallpaper application, I very much doubt you could get it to run a .scr file as your wallpaper. You could take a video of your screensaver running and convert it to a .wmv, but I doubt it would look great - do u know anyone who has video capture capability on their computer? Maybe they could create a video for you.

EDIT: Oh okay, I see Stardock created an Aurora video but not being blessed with Vista Ultimate, I couldn't tell you where it is hidden :(

There is apparently a version here: edit by mod, corrupt site

I haven't checked this for malware, so proceed with caution.

Yeh, you would, but Dreamscene proper is only available for Vista Ultimate, (apparently downloads with Windows Update) and this particular case used the patched version for Win Vista Home, so I'm assuming the content was not included in the patch as it would have been with the official download... The animated wallpaper works thru the Dreamscene patch which, it appears, works with various video files, not the actual screensaver... .scr is not a video format.

EDIT:

It supports .mpg and .wmv natively, but I see on the web there are already tweaks to support DivX and Xvid...

If you DL that .wmv, it apparently needs to be stored in <system root>/Windows/Web/Dream Scene folder for it to show in the Personalization panel.
