My (mostly) daily Defender Updates have stopped :(

i always get a pop up saying that it's turned off. when i got to windows defender it's working perfectly

Scott, I just got an update to Defender in Win7 today, version 1.49.2750.0. Perhaps they are putting out definitions for Win7 at a slower rate than for "real" Windows.

Do you have Defender running in the tray? What about in TaskMan?

Scott, no I don't have Defender in the system tray, or taskbar notification area, or whatever they are calling it now. I also don't see Defender in my Start menu and typed "defender" in search to launch the GUI.

@ScottW: It would appear the only place Windows Defender can be accessed via Windows Explorer is either the "Windows Defender" icon in Control Panel and any notifications from it about scans or updates appear in the "Action Center".
