I used to use Internet Download Manager in Windows 7 and it's very great. It can download videos from youtube, gives a high speed when downloading and it works perfectly with google chrome and firefox.
Now I'm using Ubuntu 12.10, is there any good alternative to (IDM) in Ubuntu?

For Firefox there are addons such as Fast Video Downloader and Easy You Tube Downloader. The You tube ones will let you download video files and audio files giving you choices of file extension and resolution on videos. You can also just download the audio from a video as well.

I tend to think these products are really not improving downloading like they claim. There is no magic fix that will increase your download speed. It is what it is and is set by your ISP based on the plan you have. Granted these download managers can connect to more than one mirror at once, but your speed from the internet is still the same as it was and always will be unless you bump your plan up to the next tier with your ISP.
