Hi guys
I have created a small partition for XP following the geek's guide, but i am having trouble finding the right drivers to download and integrate into the xp install cd, for my machine, so that it knows the SATA drive is there.
I do not know if i need a chipset driver, or a disk drive driver.
I have a hp pavilion dv9000/ or a dv9200. I am not sure, because on my machine it says 9000, but when i go onto the hp site it detects it as dv9200.

Either way, i was hoping someone could point me in the right direction to get the right drivers, possibly from this site:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfr.....38;lang=en

I don't know if i need a intel or a hitchi driver either. My processor is Intel, but my storage disk is a Hitachi ATA drive.

You can identify the exact model number of your PC by following the instructions at the HP Locating and Using the Product Name, Model Number, and Part Number page.
There is a service tag on the computer that will list the exact model.
That page shows where to find it.

To find what driver you need, you need to check what chipset it is.
Here is how:
1. Click the start button.
2. Right click on Computer and click Manage.
3. Click "Device Manager" on the left.
4. Double click "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers".
5. Reply with all the entries listed under it.

Ok, the entry "Intel 82801G (ICH7 Family) Ultra ATA Storage controllers 27DF" is the one drivers need to be found for.
Unfortunately it appears the exact driver for that cannot be found on Intel's web site without the motherboard chipset too.
Here is how to do that:
1. Download EVEREST Ultimate Edition and Install it.
2. Run Everest and Click Motherboard on the left.
3. Click Motherboard.
4. Under "Motherboard Physical Info" right click on "Motherboard Chipset" and click copy value.
5. In a reply to this post right click in the text box and click paste.

I couldn't find motherboard physcial info, or motherboard chipset, perhaps you mean chipset bus properties?

Ok. I had that section on my computer and I thought it would be on others too. I guess not.
Try clicking on Chipset under Motherboard and posting back what it says under North Bridge.

I looked on Intel's site and found the Intel Storage Manager driver.
It may work but I'm not sure.
