Amd vs Intel

in my opinion amd would be the clear winner with price to performance but I would like to know why amd's are so much cheaper but perform the same as intel why does everyone prefer intel i dont see a difference so someone fill me in I would like to pick the best to build my new computer but amd's seem to offer more ghz for less is there an advantage to paying the extra for intel

I think at the current time it is a wash. But you need a good cooler for the AMDs. In a laptop, I would prefer an Intel.

This processor seems compare able to a core i7 for less than half the price but most people say that it is not better can someone explain this.
