I am not at all suprised - I would, I have the disks, but once I had spent ages - I was suprised how slow it would be for a new high-performance PC out-of-the-box, setting it up I really dont want to go through the whole thing again... XP had issues too, but I agree it is far more stable than this 'very special' OS.

@ richard,

No offense but if you compare XP and Vista on the same hardware XP is always going to win out. It would be the same as if you put 98(god forbid) and XP on hardware that was available when XP hit the market. anytime there is a new windows OS everyone complains about the speed. It will get better trust me. The PCs I just installed this year at our firm are running a lot of accounting software vista and have AMD tri-core procs with 4 GB of ram and the work great.
